Program overview
Teens ages 13-16 interested in animals, conservation, zoo careers, and volunteering; provides career experience and volunteer service hours.
Eligibility
Ages 13-16; must be 13 by January 1, 2027. Must submit a complete application with handwritten responses, contact information form, signed involvement contract, questionnaire, academic teacher evaluation in a sealed envelope, letter of recommendation from a non-related adult in a sealed envelope, photo, and volunteer account. Must pass a background check. Once accepted, must attend 5 weeks of training and pass an exam with 80% or higher.

- 12-month commitment from February to February; 5 weeks of training beginning early January 2027; one designated Saturday or Sunday per month (or Friday for homeschoolers) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.; minimum 30 summer volunteer hours in June/July; attend at least one Conservation Opportunity, one Special Event, and Boo at the Zoo; additional shifts optional.
