Program overview
Regional participation is determined by the student's school of record at the time of the regional fair. The page lists county-based regions and notes that students unable to participate in their assigned Regional Fair due to schedule conflict or financial hardship may contact their Regional Director to request permission to register for the Region 9 Virtual Fair. Listed dates include Region 2 on February 7, 2026; Region 3B on February 9, 2026; Region 9 Virtual on February 11, 2026; Region 3A on February 14, 2026; and Region 4 on February 14, 2026. The 39th Annual State Science and Engineering Fair is listed for April 3, 2027 in-person, with virtual judging on March 30, 2027.
Eligibility
Must participate in the region determined by the school of record at the time of the regional fair. Teams spanning regions require permission from both regional NC Science & Engineering Fair Directors.
